The 1st Bournemouth Thai Arts Festival is pleased to announce Across the Ocean, a multi-platform exhibition that is also the main component of the Festival.
Across the Ocean will take place in the newly purposed-built, open-air premises located by the Bournemouth Pier in Bournemouth, United Kingdom. The proximity to the beach and the nature of this event as an all-encompassing festival prompts artistic reflections on themes of maritime commerce between Thailand and England dating back to the 15th century. Issues of identity and socio-cultural exchange are explored in Across the Ocean by Thai and international artists as the culmination of aesthetic encounters between these two diverse cultures.
By featuring compelling video and photography, as well as installations and performances, Across the Ocean draws attention to this shared cultural legacy into present days through the accessibility of digital communication and mass media.
As part of the opening day events Across the Ocean is proud to feature 12 Cats live performance by guest artists Yuree Kensaku and Maythee Noijinda.
